Song of the Sparrow
The song of the sparrow carried
over the meadow
To the boy in the woods
Who remembers the melody and hums it
all the way home
Into her arms he's enfolded as he shares
with her the tune
Which she proceeds to memorize
and harmonize
And he is hypnotized

May he remember the one day when he is older
and stronger come what may
Though life will have hard times and bring
with it so much change
He'll sing the song of the sparrow
For the one who's lost its (her) voice

Time passes and he watches her remain
That tender visage stays the same
She makes the children smile with a
gentleness that only an angel beholds
And he watches her with wonder
As she casts her loving spell
On the birds in the meadow that fill her
heart with delight

She can only speak now in letters that never
say what she means
And tho' that smile has left her face
When that boy who's now a man comes near
The light returns in her gaze
And he sings...
Mattie's Runaway Train
Woike up in the morning
You were no where to be found
Pain in my heart is growing
Lonliness is all around

I hear the train coming
Rolling through this town
It's my only savior
From the chains in which I'm bound

(Cause) The cards are your life
And the booze your bride
They're a constant companion
By your side
Play the game right, girls
And you just might win
But guard your hand cause you don't know
Just how it's going to end
You might find the prize
Just isn't worth the gamble

I hear the train coming
Rolling down the track
My bags are packed and waiting
I ain't never coming back

A pocket full of memories
I carry close to me
I see you stand to statuesque
As you watch me leave
And I found the prize
Wasn't worth the gamble
I found the prize
Wasn't worth the gamble
Don't Recognize the Girl
I know what it's like to be misunderstood
To carry the weight of burdens
That you were never meant to life
I know what it'ws like to be ignored
Strive for affection and attention
That you don't know what to do with when
you get it
Put on a smile, and makeup to hide the pain
Fix your hair, find a dress to wear
That covers the scars and shame
Take a look in the mirror...

I don't recognize the girl
just a shadow of who she used to be
I don't recognize the girl
She's staring back at me
But I don't recognize the girl

I know what it's like to want something you
can't have
To reach and grasp at the void
Never to be caught and held the way you want to
I know what it's like to want to be something
more than who you are (To be seen as beautiful)
To have some sense of worth and belonging
You want to be loved from the inside out
Fix your hair, find a dress to wear
That covers the scars and the doubt
Take a look in the mirror...
Muse
Watch you as you dream
As you hope
As you journey
Through this world an artist of life
your eyes see
What mine are blinded too in me
As you watch, as you wait
You remain a reminder of those things

Paint me a portrait
As I sing a song that it inspires
You blend the colors
Blend teh colors that beautify
(the canvas of my soul)

Your heart, open as the sky
Precious and beautiful as the moon
Whole it rises
Whole it rises
Made amber by the setting sun

Your hand covered in red, black and blue
As you paint my heart various hues
Tame this restless and wild soul
Made by fear
You calm the raging raging waters
That dwell in here
Float Away
The wild child from the mountain
Daily comes to the river
To dance among the mountain laurel
And dip her toes in the water

The shy young man from the valley
Daily comes to the river
To watch her dance among the laurel
And dip her toes in the water

She'll come down from the mountain
To meet him
Down bhy the fork in the river
There they'll embrace and take their
Raft out on the water

And they'll float away
Float away

He steals a kiss under the laurel
While smooth and swift runs the water
the wild child from the mountain
And that shy young man from the valley

She'll light a candle in the window
To penetrate the dark
He'll spy the light on the mountain
And know his love is home
Into the Water
Come go waves flow
Rush in rush out
Crash upon the shore
Soar high above
Dive down fly up
Gliding in the air

Fall into the water
It will carry the weight
Shatter the surface
Of the bond that's the hardest to break
All of the fear
All of the pain
All of the lies
And all the shame
they will fall into the water
Into the water

Descend defend
The passion of a dream now realized
Hope for an open door
To fly through
Your trials and face your denial
Demon Song
A storm is raging outside my window
With howling winds like a banshee
in my head
Walls are shaking, I break into a sweat
I can't go back to where I was before
Cause there's a demon knocking at my door

He says, Hey...I'm gonna git you
Hey...I'm gonna take you out
Hey...There ain't no forgiveness
No forgiveness for a sinner just like you
(lost cause just like you)

Hail like bulets penetrate the rust
Hit the flolor to wait the sleepin' dust
No point in crying cause there ain't no one
To hear
Cause I let go of everything I hold dear

I won't go down to the bottom
I won't go down without a fight
I won't go down to the bottom
I'm gonna do everything I can to
make it right

I say, Hey...you ain't gonna git me
NO...you ain't gonna take me out
you won't take me down
Cause I know there is forgiveness
For a sinner just like me
River
(I'll go)
Take me down to the river
Take me down to the river
So it can wash
Wash me clean

Dirt on my hands
on my face
on my soul
breaks my spirit
will I ever be whole

To the water
Rushing water
I will go

No reflection
Of my face
Frozen deep in the
Introspection

To the water
The rushing water
I will go

Cover me (I will go)
Cover me (let it flow)
Cover me (now I know)

With the
Life giving
Life giving
Living water
Open Door
Fall to the floor
With a rainstorm on my face
My hands so cold
Pale skin on bones
Words are spinning through my head
That old hurricane of emotions
That tear me from my bed
And leave my soul
Scattered like debris

I search for any sign of me
Through the remnants of what used to be
But will I ever find
What i'm searching for
some peace of mind
And an open door

Watch the sunrise through the trees
So surreal I fall down to my knees
Remembering all those fairy tales
Those torn pages that used to serve me well
They would take me away
She
She had a way of moving that made
her seem to glide
Across the floor without her feet
touching the ground
She had a way of smiling that made
the people stare
And they were unaware that they
were smilin' too

In her presence was comfort
In her presence was peace
Her countenance reigned beauty
From her head to her feet

She had a way of speakin' that made
people want to listen
She had a way of living no matter
how bad things got
No complaint ever range from her
sweet mouth

Tho' she didn't have the best of homes
Sorrow and pain plagued her all her life
Her loving spirit shown bright like the sun
She died a pauper but lived respected
as a queen
